Description The Yoshiyama Award for Exemplary Service to the Community recognizes outstanding young people who have taken action to address social, economic or cultural challenges in their communities. The Award is given annually to 10 high school senior from around the United States. It is awarded solely on the basis of community service activities that foster longer term community change. The Award is accompanied by a gift of $5,000, dispensed over two years. Funds are used at the recipient's discretion.

This is NOT an award for academic achivement. It is NOT a scholarship. Students may NOT APPLY for this Award - they must be NOMINATED by someone familiar with their community involvement. Self and familial nominations are automatically disqualified.
